Legacy from the New Boyz dropped a solo mixtape called "Your New Favorite Rapper" honestly I couldn't listen to it all the way through because I can't listen to his voice for 16 tracks. But he does have some good tracks for the West Coasters to dance to. But it's all based on opinion. DJ Ill Will and DJ Rockstar always put out good music.. so no doubt I heard some songs I might just download. He's repping for the West Coast so I can't help but respect it.

I know it has been a long time since the last time I posted something on here.. life has been hectic.. but i'm trying.

But I found something worth coming back from this hiatus to talk about. Kanye.. once again. I really hated the "Power" video.. idk. Maybe I just hated the whole song. But Kanye's newest short film "Runaway" was absolutely phenomenal in my opinion. As I watched all 34 minutes and 31 seconds of this I was extremely touched by the whole concept behind it or at least the concept I acquired from it. And that maybe because of the things I'm going through in life right now or for the simple fact that I can find a direct relation between me and the leading lady in the film.

She came into our world VERY DIFFERENT, but Kanye immediately disregarded all of that and took her in.. and as soon as he brought her around people they began judging her instantly. Now how fucked up is that. It is only for the simple fact that she is DIFFERENT. It kind of hit a nerve when they acknowledged the fact that she was very pretty.. just DIFFERENT.

But that's my spill on things for now. I promise to try to keep posting if people keep reading.

Just A Thought

As I was watching Heroes last night an idea came to my head. What path will I choose.? Will I choose a path of meaning or a path of happiness.? On the show one of the characters said the two cannot be homologous. To live a life of meaning would mean a person has to spend their whole life obsessing about the past and planning for the future. And to live a life of happiness would require you to forget the past and live for the day with no regards for the future nor the past.

It's some people's life goal to understand their purpose in life. Some people go through their whole lives and still don't figure out what type of life that they are living. So which one will I choose.? A life of meaning or a life of happiness.? At this point I want to do both I believe that if I live a life of meaning that in the end I will be happy.

Just a thought...

Today is Khalifah's funeral. I didn't get to make it but seeing as though he was the inspiration for me to go ahead and make this blog I have to commemorate him. BET Awards 2010

Last night I was definitely more proud of BET than I have been in a long time. This years BET production was very much more put together than some of it's past events. I see BET is trying to make us proud again. I commend their efforts but they have a long way to go.

And usually I'm very selfish with the good music that I listened to because I feel like no one is going to appreciate it and see it like I do. She left her major deal with Interscope to be an independent artist. And I have full respect towards her because of that.

This song was the first new song I heard after Khalifah's death. I described the way I felt most of the time that I knew him.

My Last Words... My First Also.

Those words are what I'm going to remember from that man forever. And as we mourn his death and celebrate his life I can't help but feel like today could not have been a more perfect time to start my blog. I was heavily considering just canceling this account and just doing something else with my life but then I remembered writing and music has always been my coping mechanism. And now that Khalifah is no longer here to do his Rare Impressions blog I've decided that I can't just let his memory and hard work just slip away. I may take a different approach than him. But I plan on making a difference.

The last thing he told me before he died was telling that he was trying to prepare me for the rest of the world's hate towards me. He was telling me there was always gonna be that group of people behind me who hate and are just waiting to see me fail. Even though I knew that already it was great to hear that someone else cared.

But now as he lives in paradise I refuse to fail. That's no longer an option.

Thank you for coming to this world and serving your purpose. I love you. and I'll see you. Hopefully not soon though.
